Rajkot Sofa Factory Fire Kills Owner's Son-in-Law, Factory Destroyed in Blaze

A man died after becoming trapped inside a toilet when a massive fire broke out at a sofa manufacturing factory near Hudko Chowkdi on Kotharia Road in Rajkot on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as the factory owner's son-in-law. Preliminary findings suggest he died due to suffocation after inhaling heavy smoke.

Victim Found During Rescue Operation

The fire spread rapidly through the factory, engulfing the entire premises within a short time. Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the building as the blaze intensified.

After receiving an alert, the fire department rushed multiple fire tenders and rescue teams to the spot and launched an operation to control the flames.

During the rescue, local residents informed firefighters that a person was still trapped inside the factory. Rescue personnel later found the victim inside a toilet and pulled him out in an unconscious condition.

He was immediately shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Smoke Inhalation Suspected

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim is believed to have died from suffocation caused by heavy smoke inhalation.

Factory Suffers Heavy Damage

The blaze destroyed large quantities of raw materials, chemicals, foam and finished sofas, causing significant financial losses to the factory owner.

Officials suspect the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, although the exact cause will be determined after a detailed investigation by the police and fire department.
