Bengal Police Probe Shack, Await Forensic Reports in Baruipur Girl Murder Case

Investigators in South 24 Parganas have reportedly intensified their probe into the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl whose body was recovered from the Surjyapur Haat area on Sunday. Three suspects have been arrested, and State Director General of Police (DGP) Siddh Nath Gupta has reportedly promised a thorough investigation following a wave of violent local protests.

Focus Shifts to Crime Scene and Timeline

Detectives are currently treating a local shack as the primary crime scene. Sources reportedly said, one of the suspects lured the young girl to the structure, where the other two accused were already waiting. Preliminary findings indicate the men had consumed intoxicants before committing the crime.

Investigators reportedly believe the victim was kept inside the shack before the suspects attempted to dispose of her body. Officers are reconstructing the timeline, using witness statements and scientific evidence to pinpoint the exact role played by each individual.

Post-Mortem Reveals Ante-Mortem Drowning

A preliminary post-mortem report has raised critical questions about the final moments of the victim's life. While her body bore multiple injuries, medical examiners noted clear signs of ante-mortem drowning—meaning the girl was still breathing when she entered the water.

Current Investigative Theory: Police suspect the victim was reportedly rendered unconscious by physical trauma sustained inside the shack. The accused then allegedly stuffed her into a plastic sack to transport her body. When the sack tore, they panicked and threw her into a nearby pond before fleeing the scene individually.

Water found in the victim's lungs and stomach is undergoing laboratory analysis, and police are waiting for the final forensic and viscera reports before drawing official conclusions.

Public Outrage and Vigilante Violence

The discovery of the 11-year-old's body on Sunday, just a day after she went missing, triggered immediate anger across Baruipur. Local residents blocked the busy Baruipur–Joynagar Road, burned tires, and vandalized several police vehicles to demand justice.

DGP Siddh Nath Gupta, who reportedly visited the crime scene, characterized the case as highly sensitive and said that further details would be withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation. He also addressed allegations from the victim's family regarding a delayed initial police response, confirming that an internal inquiry will look into the matter separately.
