₹4.5 cr cash, Rolls Royce, McLaren, Ferrari in IT raid on tobacco business

The Income Tax (IT) Department conducted raids today at a tobacco company in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, along with 20 other locations, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Gujarat.

These raids were conducted at the Banshidhar Tobacco Company and the locations of Shivam Mishra, son of the company’s owner, KK Mishra.

A hefty sum of ₹4.5 cr was confiscated in cash by the IT department, along with several other documents.

At the raid conducted at Shivam’s Delhi residence, the IT department landed upon luxury cars worth ₹60 cr, including a Rolls Royce Phantom worth ₹16 cr.

The IT department also found other luxury cars worth crores, like McLaren, Lamborghini, and Ferrari, among others, at his residence.

As per sources closely associated with the developments, the tobacco company had mentioned a turnover of ₹20 cr-₹25 cr to the IT department. Which was found to be to the tune of ₹100 cr to ₹150 cr.

Sources in the IT department reportedly state that the company issued fake cheques to the clients registered in their logbooks. Alongside, the company also supplied materials to other large-scale pan-masala companies.
