Diamond firm employees robbed off ₹8 cr by man posing as IT official in Surat

In a chilling incident surfacing from Surat, four employees of a diamond trading firm were robbed of their company’s car and ₹8 cr in cash at gunpoint near the city’s Ashram Road on Feb 27.

As per police information, the four employees were headed to withdraw the amount from a safe (locker) at around 3.30 p.m.

While returning to their firm’s office in the Katargam area, they encountered a man posing as an income tax official who stopped and barged into their car and later deboarded all four employees at intervals.

He then placed his pistol on the driver’s head and absconded with the car and cash in his possession.

Upon knowing about the incident, the firm executives rushed to the crime branch instead of the local police station.

The four employees were brought to the crime branch office and questioned regarding the incident. The city police were also informed.
