Income tax dept raids 40 locations across Gujarat

A leading wire and cable manufacturer company unit was raided by the I-T officials

After raids at major builder groups in Ahmedabad, income tax (I-T) initiated raids across around 40 units in Gujarat today.

Multiple teams initiated searches in cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Silvassa, and Surat.

RR Kabel units under watch 

A leading wire and cable manufacturer company, RR Kable’s Vadodara unit based in Waghodia was raided by the I-T officials. An investigation against executive chairperson Tribhuvanprasad Kabra and other directors has been initiated.

The operation was carried out at 35 locations, including the units in Waghodia and Silvassa, an office in Mumbai, an office based at the Alembic campus in Vadodara, and an office each in Ahmedabad and Surat.

The I-T team reached the company owner’s residence with police security. A total of eight officials are on a search operation at the office on the Alembic campus, where the company’s documents, computers, and hard discs were examined.

The mobile phones of all the employees were also seized by the authorities.

This time over, the major wire and cable players are under the I-T scanner. The nationwide raid of the I-T department is aimed at investigating malpractices in the cable business. I-T will scrutinise the transactions and accounts of these companies.

Days before Diwali, the income tax department conducted raids on three builders in the Science City Road area of Ahmedabad.

More than 150 I-T department officials were involved in the raids, which were conducted at more than 20 locations across the city.
