Vote counting on for 34 district panchayats in Gujarat

The counting process for Gujarat’s local self-government elections has commenced, with early results being announced from across the state.

Elections were held for 34 district panchayats. Find Taluka Panchayat results here.

District panchayats and taluka panchayats had registered around 61% turnout.

According to the State Election Commission, a total of 732 candidates were elected unopposed ahead of the polls. This includes 52 such candidates in district panchayats.

Update at 6 pm

BJP still in the lead with 862 seats, while INC has managed to gain 128 seats. 

-Sabarkantha (34 seats): BJP 28, Congress 3, Others 3

-Surendranagar (32 seats): BJP 31, Congress 1

-Rajkot (36 seats): BJP 34, Congress 1, Others 1

-Junagarh (30 seats): BJP 23, Congress 7

-Amreli (34 seats): BJP 31, Congress 1, Others 2

-Narmada (22 seats): BJP 7, AAP 15

-Dang (18 seats): BJP 12, Congress 6

-Tapi (26 seats): BJP 18, Congress 8

BJP continue to dominate the District Panchayat seats, leading by 759 seats, while Congress still lagging behind with 125 seats. 

BJP wins in Tapi District Panchayat

The BJP has secured 18 of the 26 seats in the district panchayat, while the INC won 8 seats.

BJP wins in Rajkot District Panchayat

The BJP has secured a dominant victory in the district panchayat elections, winning 34 out of 36 seats. The INC and the AAP won 1 seat each.

Congress candidate Arunaben Bhasha won the Kolki seat, while AAP candidate Aartiben Jetani secured victory from the Movia seat.

Chhota Udepur

> The AAP secured five of the seven seats, while the BJP won two seats. The INC failed to secure 1 seat.

Amreli District Results Declared

> In Amreli district District Panchayat, the BJP won 31 of 34 seats, while the AAP secured 2 seats and the INC won one seat.

So far, BJP has managed to secure 756 seats, while INC has claimed 120 seats out of 1090 District Panchayat seats.

Update at 3 pm

BJP is leading by claiming 723 seats, while, Congress is rising steadily by claiming 115 seats. 

> The BJP has won 5 district panchayat seats, Atkot, Santhali, Bhadla, Shivrajpur and Kamalapur.

> In Vichhiya taluka, the BJP also secured 3 district panchayat seats, namely Vichhiya, Pipli and Badli.

AAP's victory in Narmada district panchayat

The AAP and the BJP have together won 14 of the 22 seats in the district panchayat.

BJP's victory in Kheda district panchayat

The BJP has secured a decisive victory in the district panchayat elections, winning 35 of the 42 seats, while the INC managed to secure 5 seats.

Update at 2 pm

BJP has secured almost half i.e. 528, of the total 1090 District panchayat seats. Meanwhile, INC has claimed 67 seats.

Congress wins after recount

A recount was conducted for the Valad seat of the district panchayat, following a demand by a BJP candidate after the initial result declared the Congress victorious. The recount reaffirmed the outcome, with the INC candidate retaining the seat by a margin of 125 votes.

BJP wins in Bavla

Dakshaben Dabhi, daughter of Sanand MLA Kanubhai Patel, has won the Gangad seat of the district panchayat.

Meanwhile, BJP candidate Rameshbhai Makwana secured victory from the Shiyal district panchayat seat, and Chhayaben Chauhan, wife of former district panchayat president Jitendrasinh Chauhan, won the Kavitha seat.

INC fails to secure 1 seat in Junagadh District Panchayat

BJP secured a decisive victory in the district panchayat elections, winning 23 of the total 30 seats. AAP won seven seats, while the INC failed to secure a single seat in the district.

Vadodara District Panchayat

BJP has won 20 seats, while the INC has secured two seats. Results for 12 seats are still awaited.

BJP is rapidly rising by securing 271 seat, while INC is steadily rising by claiming 30 seats. 

Keshod District Panchayat 4 seat results declared

Results for 4 seats of the Keshod taluka in the district panchayat have been declared, with the Bharatiya Janata Party securing victories across all constituencies. Sarojben Ashvibhai Khataria won from Agtrai, Vinodbhai Bhimjibhai Makdia from Ajab, Vilsuben Rameshbhai Karangia from Balagam, and Ratilal Khimjibhai Ladani from Meswan.

Raju Karpada wins by 2533 votes

Raju Karpada, who had resigned from the AAP and joined the BJP, has won the Mooli-2 seat of the district panchayat by a margin of 2,533 votes.

BJP's veteran leader loses in Rajkot

Veteran BJP leader and former vice-president of the Rajkot district panchayat, Rajubhai Dangar, has lost the Moviya seat.

Former IPS Manoj Ninama's lose in Od District Panchayat in Aravalli 

BJP candidate and former IPS officer Manoj Ninama was defeated by 2,700 votes. Indian National Congress candidate Suresh Ninama won the seat.

BJP candidate Kamlesh Chauhan won the Moti Kukawav seat, while Gayatriben Sanjaybhai Wala secured victory from the Devgam seat.

BJP continue to dominate the District panchayat seats, securing 171 seat, while INC still stagnant at 12 seats. 

BJP wins Gandhinagar district panchayat seat

BJP candidate Rashmiji Thakor won from the Santej seat of Gandhinagar District Panchayat, BJP candidate Dilip Singh Lal Singh Solanki from the Chiloda seat, BJP candidate Anandiben Thakor from the Dabhoda seat, BJP candidate Mahesh Thakor from the Itadara seat, and BJP candidate Vasavadta Patel from the Bilodara seat.

In Mahisagar District Panchayat, BJP candidate Govindbhai Bamania won the Batkwada seat, BJP's Bhavanaben Patel won the Bakor seat, and BJP's Manjulaben Garasia won the Vaddala seat.

AAP wins Javali seat in district panchayat

AAP candidate Dr. Dayaram Vasava won the Javali seat in Narmada District Panchayat by 8,918 votes. While BJP candidate Vipul Patel won the Jhadeshwar seat in Bharuch District Panchayat. On the other hand, the BJP captured the Dashrath seat in Vadodara District Panchayat.

BJP still leads with securing 141 seat, while INC has secured 12 seats out of 1090. 

AAP candidate wins in Chhota Udepur 

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Ishwar Natubhai has won the Navgam seat of the district panchayat by a margin of 9,213 votes.

Raju Karpada, who quit AAP and joined BJP, loses

Raju Karpada, who resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been defeated in Surendranagar district. Karpada, who contested from the Mooli-2 seat of the district panchayat, failed to secure victory.

BJP wins Bilkha seat of Junagadh district 

BJP candidate Champaben Kishorebhai Thummar has won the Bilkha seat of Junagadh District Panchayat by a margin of 300 votes. 

BJP has won the Badej seat of Porbandar District Panchayat. 

Former AAP MLA Bhupat Bhayani's defeat

In a major upset in the Bhesan seat of the district panchayat, former MLA Bhupat Bhayani, who had switched from the Aam Aadmi Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party, was defeated by 1,700 votes. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dinesh Ruparelia won the seat.

Update at 10 am

The BJP has so far managed to gain 60 seats across district panchayats, while the INC has claimed 10 seats.

At 9 am, the BJP has managed to claim 49 seats in district panchayats. Elections were held for 34 district panchayats across 1,090 seats.
