Two thieves who had attempted to loot the vault of an ICICI Bank ATM in Gopipura, Surat, were arrested by Surat police with the help of CCTV footage. Preliminary probe has found that the youth was in need of money after he lost ₹14,000 while playing the mobile game ‘Free Fire’.

On January 1, at 4.23 am, More and Bal Kishor went to the ATM carrying two bags. They attempted to break open the ATM vault with tools they had brought, but were unsuccessful. They then tried to break the ATM with a hammer, but failed. In frustration, they damaged the CCTV camera with the hammer at 4.25 am.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which led to the arrest of More and Bal Kishor.
During the probe, it was found that More had lost ₹14,000 in the Free Fire game and needed to repay the money. After watching a theft video on YouTube, he stole a motorcycle and attempted to break into the ATM vault.
