Congress MLA, aides rescue distressed youth in Ahmedabad

A young man in distress was safely rescued from Dadhichi Bridge in Ahmedabad on Friday after a prompt intervention by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala and members of his security team, preventing a potential tragedy.

According to preliminary information, the youth was seen on the bridge, prompting concern among passers-by and motorists, who alerted those nearby. Khedawala and his security personnel immediately reached him, spoke to him, and safely brought him away from the edge before handing him over to the police.

The youth was subsequently taken into police custody for further inquiry and counselling.

During the preliminary inquiry, the youth allegedly told police that he was under emotional distress over personal relationship issues. He claimed he had entered into a love marriage, but that his wife later left him and subsequently married another person. Police said these claims are yet to be independently verified and form part of the ongoing investigation.

Police are counselling the youth and are expected to record his detailed statement as part of the inquiry. Further investigation is underway
