Scorching heat hits Amdavadis: 200 heat-related cases reported everyday

Ahmedabad is experiencing the onset of a scorching summer, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for extreme heat in the city.
3,230 cases of heat-related illnesses have been reported in the city, from Apr 1 till Apr 15. Of these, 725 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting, and 635 cases of fainting due to dizziness have been recorded.
More than 200 cases of heat-related illnesses are being reported daily.

The met department has issued a yellow alert for today, with the city’s maximum temperature expected to reach 41°C.
The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set up ORS (oral rehydration solution) corners at all urban and community health centres in the city to provide treatment for heat-related illnesses.
The AMC has appealed to citizens to avoid going out in the sun between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
50,000 ORS packets have been distributed among the traffic police staff. Builders and industrial associations have been directed to make arrangements to protect their workers and employees from the heat.
