Relief from heat in middle of summer brings fear of crop damage in Kutch, Saurashtra

Today, some parts of Saurashtra-Kutch were raining with stormy winds. Due to which there is fear of damage to summer crops including mango.

In a significant change in weather, parts of Saurashtra and Kutch received rainshowers with stormy winds, inducing a fear of damage to summer crops, including Gujarat's beloved Mango.

The state is experiencing scorching heat at the beginning of April. However, the Meteorological Department predicted unseasonal rains in various parts of the state during Apr 13 to 15.

A sudden change of weather was seen in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions right from afternoon today. Rural patches of Amreli, Gir Somnath, Rajkot, Bhuj, Anjar, Bhachau, and Mundra received rains with heavy winds.

This is, however, believed to damage the crops by the likes of mango and sesame, making the farmers worried.

Notably, the Meteorological Department predicted rains on Apr 13 in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Bharuch, Kutch and Gir Somnath.

On Apr 14, average rain is likely over Narmada, Chhotaudepur, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, and Gir Somnath. On Apr 15, there may be scattered rain in Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, Aravalli, and Dahod.
