Unseasonal rain hits north Gujarat, mercury likely to dip

Amid the scorching heat, parts of north and central Gujarat grappled with unseasonal rains on Apr 11.
Heavy winds and rain prevailed in Dahod, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Arvalli regions of the state.
According to reports, lightning struck and injured two people in Dahod. The winds were so intense that they threw solar panels and roofs 500 metres away from the seventh floor of a private hospital .
In the upcoming days, unseasonal rainfall is likely to hit Sabarkantha, Arvalli, Dahod, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Gir Somnath, Mahisagar, and Kutch.
On Apr 14, light thunderstorm with lighting and surface wind at a speed of 30-40kmph, accompanied with light rain and thundershowers is very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region including Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad, Gir Somnath and in Kutch.
Ahmedabad’s weather is likely to remain “partly cloudy” with maximum temperature 39°C today, according to the IMD forecast.
Dahod is likely to witness winds at 30–40 kmph and light rainfall.
On the other hand, on Apr 11, the western district of the state, Bhuj, stood as the hottest place in Gujarat at 41.2°C.
“Mercury is likely to dip by 3°C in the upcoming three days, which eventually will rise by 2–3°C,” according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
