Surat Hazira flyover

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued tenders for the construction of two overbridges at a cost of ₹152 cr in Surat’s Hazira area.

The bridges will be built in the vicinity of Kawas Patia and one of the Reliance company’s gates, providing swift passage to the locals, as well as the high-profile companies nearby.

Hazira is home to several mega firms, including Reliance, Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (Kribhco), Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and AMNS (ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel).

The stretch experiences daily traffic of thousands of heavy vehicles as the main highway connecting Hazira to Dhule passes through this area.

In addition, the highway is constantly busy with vehicles belonging to the residents and employees of more than 15 villages, including Kawas, Mora, Damka, Rajgari, and Junagam, located around the companies. The problem of traffic congestion is specifically acute during peak hours.

In addition, large vehicles are parked on the sides of the road, which causes a persistent traffic congestion problem on the highway from Kawas Patiya to Mora.

These bridges are planned to permanently relieve the locals from such issues.

Several pleas were made by the local villagers to Choryasi MLA Sandip Desai, which were taken up with union minister Nitin Gadkari.

Following this, the issue was taken into account, and this project was announced.
