A tennis coach has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl who was attending his tennis classes at the badminton court of Babylon Club on Sola–Science City Road, Ahmedabad.
The Sola police have arrested the accused, identified as Nisarg Pandya, based on a complaint filed by the minor girl's father.
The teenage girl from Ahmedabad's Ghatlodia area had enrolled at Babylon Club for tennis coaching during her vacation.
Police said she began training under Nisarg Pandya in March 2026. The coach would sometimes pick her up and drop her home in his car, according to the investigation.
During this period, Pandya allegedly sexually abused the girl and later sent her inappropriate messages on Instagram, according to the police.
Police said that on June 6, Pandya allegedly took the girl to a washroom at Babylon Club, where he sexually assaulted her and threatened her against telling anyone about the incident.
The girl later informed her parents after they became suspicious.
During the investigation, her statement reportedly revealed that the accused had allegedly assaulted her at multiple locations while taking her home from the club, including in his car and near the Science City connecting road and a tennis court near Gandhigram railway station.
Based on the complaint, Sola Police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Pandya.
Police Inspector K N Bhukan said the accused's mobile phone had been seized and he had been sent to jail.
