Life insurance scam in Gujarat: Man fakes own death to escape debt

A man in Vadgam, Gujarat, faked his own death to claim an insurance payout and escape a debt of crores of rupees.
Dalpatsinh Parmar, a resident of Dhanpura village, Vadgam, was heavily in debt and had purchased an insurance policy worth ₹1 crore. According to the policy, the insurance money could only be claimed in the event of his death. In order to collect the insurance money, Parmar planned to fake his own death.
He dug out the body of a person who had died four weeks earlier, placed it in a car, and then set the car on fire. With the help of his friends, he staged the scene to make it appear as though he had died in a car accident due to burns.
Following the incident, the police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. They called in the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team, and after inspecting the scene, they grew suspicious. The authorities believed that the situation looked more like a crime scene than an accidental death.
Meanwhile, Parmar’s brother identified the burned body as Parmar’s and attempted to mislead the police and the investigation team. However, further investigation revealed that the body was actually of another person who had died four weeks ago.
As the investigation unfolded, the police arrested three individuals involved in the scam, however mastermind, Dalpatsinh Parmar, is still on the run.
