Driver in Gujarat linked to 24 fraudulent health insurance claims

A major scam involving health insurance claims has been uncovered in the vehicle accident cases from Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar districts. 

The scam was revealed during an investigation by an insurance company, which found that a person who had appeared as a driver in an accident case at Godhra Police Station had also been listed as the driver in several other claims.

Following that, Kalpesh Prajapati, area manager with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company ,filed a complaint at Godhra Police Station.

According to the complaint, in 2016, a case was filed with the Godhra Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, involving an accident that occurred in October 2015, where the claimant, Jagdish Bariya, had applied for a claim of ₹3 lakh.

During the investigation, the insurance company hired a private agency to look into the accident matter, and it was found that the person listed as the driver in the accident was Aslam Chunchla, and he had been the driver in multiple other accident cases as well.

The report revealed that Chunchla was involved in submitting fraudulent insurance claims by misrepresenting himself as the driver in multiple accident cases. 

And upon re-investigation initiated by the insurance company it was revealed that 24 similar fraudulent cases in which Chunchla had been listed as either the driver or vehicle owner.

Chunchla, along with vehicle owner Sikandar Samad, had orchestrated the whole thing to obtain insurance money by misrepresenting the accident details. The Godhra Police Station have registered a case against the accused.
