To initiate the four-year BS (Bachelor of Science) degree with international standards for the UG (undergraduate) courses, Gujarat University has asked colleges to submit their applications by Mar 2 (Saturday).

The circular issued by GU also notifies that the affiliated colleges running BCom (Bachelor of Commerce), BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), and BSc (Bachelor of Science) courses can transfer to a BS course.

However, this transfer is not mandatory. The college, according to its will, can also transfer one or two of its classes to the BS degree. The total number of classes, however, is to remain intact. An addition or removal of classes won’t be granted over the BS degree courses.

This circular issued by GU won’t apply to students studying and enrolled in Bcom-BBA-BCA-BSc course colleges.

In the BS degree, three years are to be studied regularly, while the fourth year has to be in an honours subject.

Colleges transferring to BS courses should have at least two faculties with a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy). Assistance will be provided by GU for the faculty’s PhD guideship.
