Misconduct in recruitment of state varsities stays unaddressed
A total of 31 complaints were reported to the government, and none of them have been addressed yet
In the ongoing Gujarat Assembly session, misconduct was revealed in the recruitment and non-recruitment staff of state universities in the last two years, which is yet to be addressed by the state.
Responding to a question asked in the Assembly, a Patan MLA informed that misconduct in a total of 13 government universities has been reported.
A total of seven complaints came from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) in Patan, seven from Saurashtra University, three from Gujarat University, two from Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University, two from Sardar Patel University, and three from the Indian Institute of Teacher Education in Gandhinagar.
Recruitment-related complaints were also reported from Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, Children’s Research University, Vadodara’s Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, and Surat’s Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU).
A total of 31 complaints were reported to the government, and none of them have been addressed yet.
The government also said that no committee has been formed to investigate the misconduct.
Notably, out of these 13 universities where misconduct has been reported, 11 of them are part of the recently established Common Universities Act, 2023.
