In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, the Gujarat government has launched a demolition drive in Bet Dwarka and other areas in Devbhumi Dwarka district. The demolition is currently underway in areas including Aavlapara, Shantinagar, and Bet Dwarka, targeting unauthorised encroachments.

As part of this action, the authorities have imposed a ban on private vehicles in Bet Dwarka. To prevent any movement of pilgrims and tourists, barricades have been set up at entry points. However, regular prayers and rituals at the temples continue as usual.

The demolition operation began early on Saturday, with notices being served to around 250 encroachers near Balapar in Bet Dwarka.

To ensure the safety and smooth execution of the operation, the police have been placed on high alert. The entire demolition process is being overseen by District police chief Nitesh Pandey, with strict security arrangements in place.

More than 1,000 police personnel, including officers from Khambhalia, LCB (Local Crime Branch), SOG (Special Operation Group), PI, PSI, SRP (Special Reserve Police), and women officers, have been deployed for the operation.

Additionally, to monitor the situation closely and prevent any untoward incidents, drone cameras and CCTV surveillance are being utilised. The police have cordoned off the areas where the demolition is taking place to maintain order.
