Kalpesh Patel controversy

Amidst union minister Parshottam Rupala’s controversy regarding his remarks on the Kshatriya community boiling intensely across the state, a social media post by a BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) corporator from Vadodara, Kalpesh Patel, has sparked further controversy.

In the post, Patel wrote, “Even after Rupala has apologised, there is a certain gang that is now making a spectacle and indirectly plotting against Modi (Narendra Modi) and Hindus. The people of Gujarat need to identify this gang now. This gang is not here to harm Rupala but to destroy the years of hard work of Hindus and Modiji. The one who is a true Kshatriya is with the Hindus and Modiji.”

The post by the BJP corporator of Vadodara went viral on social media within minutes.

Following this, a controversy erupted over the post, leading him to realise his mistake and delete the post.

He even made a separate post, issuing an apology, reading, “I apologise to the public for the post I mistakenly put on social media earlier, in which I made a mistake due to a misunderstanding on social media. If any sentiments of the Kshatriya community have been hurt, I express my regret for that.”

This whole ordeal bears an eerie similarity with the controversy of BJP’s incumbent Rajkot Lok Sabha seat candidate, Rupala, where the leader had remarked on the erstwhile rulers of Gujarat, inviting a severe backlash from the Kshatriya community across the state.

In a video that surfaced online, Rupala was seen allegedly criticising the Rajputs at an event.

Rupala later also apologised to the Kshatriya community, asking the leaders to “finish this topic right here.”
