Amid the ongoing tensions sparked by Parshottam Rupala’s remarks regarding the Kshatriya community in Gujarat, Raj Shekhawat's turban talks have further aggravated the situation.
On Apr 9, Kshatriya leader Raj Shekhawat was detained by the police at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVIP).
While the police were forcing Shekhawat into the police jeep, the officials allegedly removed the turban from his head.
Shekhawat reportedly screamed in agitation and demanded that they not touch his turban.
The turban, often regarded as a symbol of pride among various communities in India, has sparked a nationwide discussion following the incident involving Shekhawat’s turban.
Rakesh Tikait, the national spokesperson of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has reacted to the incident where Shekhwat’s turban was removed, saying, “Everyone may have different views and issues on the current situation in the country, but at the social level, removing anyone’s turban like this is a condemnable incident. We all consider turbans our honour, and the entire society strongly condemns this incident.”
Regarding the incident, Gujarat police revealed that the turban slipped off his head in the ruckus, and the police were not responsible for it.
Moreover, Karni Sena has demanded the suspension of the police officer who allegedly removed Shekhawat’s turban.
