Ahmedabad’s private schools house 348 unqualified teaching staff, admits govt

Although Gujarat boasts of its educational infrastructure, many questions are now being raised about the quality it offers to students.
In a reply to a query raised by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala, the state’s education department clarified that 105 private primary schools in Ahmedabad district house 348 under-qualified teaching staff.
Private schools in the city are facing a shortage of teaching staff, and to fill these vacancies, underqualified professionals are being recruited by their administration departments.
Ahmedabad city region sees the highest number of such teaching staff, 219 in 47 schools.
Such is the case with private schools in Daskroi, Sanand, Dholka, Bavla, Dhandhuka, Viramgam, and Mandal.
A total of 34 private schools in Viramgam and Dhandhuka house 73 underqualified teachers, seven schools in Daskroi house 15, and six schools in Bavla house 25 such teachers.

The state has accepted that the teaching staff of subpar merit should be dismissed by the end of this academic year.
