Over 3.38 lakh TAT-TET qualified candidates await placement in Guj
The education department has appointed 4,138 candidates out of 5,985 gyan sahayaks in the secondary department

In the ongoing Gujarat Assembly session, responding to a question regarding the Teacher Aptitude Test (TAT) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), the state accepted that over 3.83 lakh candidates who qualified for these competitive examinations are awaiting to get placed.
The Gujarat education minister replied in the Assembly that a total of 39,395 candidates passed TET-1 and 2,35,956 candidates passed TET-2.
Subsequently, 75,328 candidates passed the secondary level, 28,307 passed the secondary higher level, and 15,253 passed the higher secondary level exams.
More than 3.83 lakh candidates are eligible to become teachers who have qualified for the required exams.
The minister said that in 2022, recruitment has been conducted for 2,300 candidates who passed TET-1 and 3,378 candidates who passed TET-2, while no recruitment has taken place for secondary or higher secondary levels.
Similarly, in 2023, no recruitment has been conducted for candidates in primary, secondary, or higher secondary schools, said the minister.
In response to questions regarding where the recruitment of these candidates will take place, the minister did not provide any specific commitments or guidelines.
Recruitment of gyan sahayaks instead of TAT-TET qualified teachers?
He indicated that recruitment will be conducted as per requirements.
The education department has appointed 4,138 candidates out of 5,985 gyan sahayaks in the secondary department.
Moreover, in response to questions about the monthly salary of gyan sahayaks, the minister stated that secondary gyan sahayaks receive a monthly salary of ₹24,000.
The education department issued these appointments in November 2023, and they have been receiving their salaries.
However, the government denied the accusation of the delay in the timely disbursement of the monthly salaries of gyan sahyaks.
