After protests, Gujarat includes subject teachers in vacancies

Updated: Jul 13th, 2024

Gujarat announced vacancies for subject-teachers of Physical Education, Computer, Arts, and Music, as per the demand of the school boards.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Dr Kuber Dindor took to his X handle, “Gujarat government has announced the recruitment of about 7500 teaching assistants in government and non-government aided secondary and higher secondary schools of the state. Under which, according to the demand of the school board, along with the literacy subjects, the vacancies of subjects like exercise, computer, drawing and music will also be included.”

In a previous cabinet meeting held last month, it was decided to recruit 7,500 permanent teachers in the next three months in government and grant-in-aid schools for secondary and higher secondary education.

However, there was no announcement for the recruitment of teachers for subjects like Computer.

As a result, there was a protest in Gandhinagar demanding the recruitment of Computer teachers in government schools.

After a string of protests that broke out in Gandhinagar over the recruitment of teaching staff in Gujarat, it was decided in a cabinet meeting held today to recruit permanent teachers for 24,700 vacant posts.
