The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has seized 701.10 grams of mephedrone (MD) worth ₹70.11 lakh during its investigation into an alleged courier-based drug trafficking racket. The latest recovery was made from a rented house in Odhav based on disclosures made by the arrested accused during police remand.

• 701.10 grams of mephedrone (MD) worth ₹70.11 lakh
• ₹35,000 cash, suspected to be drug sale proceeds
• Total seized property valued at ₹70.46 lakh

How the recovery happened

• The accused, Asuram alias Ashokkumar Babulal Herkandji Bhadu (Bishnoi) (32), was earlier arrested with 371.55 grams of MD worth ₹37.15 lakh.
• During interrogation, he allegedly revealed that more narcotics were hidden at his rented house in Yamuna Park Society near SP Ring Road, Odhav.
• A search of the premises led to the recovery of an additional 329.55 grams of MD worth ₹32.95 lakh.

Other items recovered

Police also seized:

• Two digital weighing scales
• 239 empty zip-lock pouches
• Aluminium foil and packaging material
• A notebook believed to contain records
• Passbook, ATM card and identity documents
• Box-making kits allegedly used for packaging drugs

Probe continues

• According to police, the accused was allegedly storing, packaging and distributing mephedrone through courier services.
• Investigators are now tracing:The source of the narcoticsSuppliers and intended recipientsThe financial trailOther members of the suspected interstate drug trafficking network
