The Gujarat High Court has established a dedicated Statistical and Data Analytics Unit within its premises. The unit was inaugurated by Supreme Court Justice Vipul Pancholi.

The newly created in-house unit aims to transform judicial data from the High Court and district courts into actionable insights, enabling the judiciary to identify systemic bottlenecks rather than merely maintaining historical records.

Centralised repository for judicial data

The unit will collect and maintain statistical data related to cases from the Gujarat High Court as well as courts across the state. It will serve as a central repository for information on case pendency, case disposal and other judicial statistics.

Speaking at the inauguration, Justice Vipul Pancholi praised the Gujarat High Court's initiative, stating that the systematic collection and analysis of judicial data would prove to be highly beneficial for the state's judiciary.

He said the unit would help monitor pending cases, track case progress and analyse disposal trends, ultimately contributing to the timely delivery of justice for litigants.

Based on Digital Courts Vision

The Statistical and Data Analytics Unit has been developed in line with the data architecture principles of the National e-Committee's Digital Courts Vision.

The new facility will provide near real-time visibility into the functioning and status of courts across Gujarat, enabling better planning and evidence-based judicial administration.

The initiative builds upon the extensive digitisation carried out under the e-Courts Mission Mode Project, through which large volumes of case records and filings have been digitised over the past two decades using systems such as the Case Information System (CIS).
