Police complaint sparks violent revenge attack in Ahmedabad

A 20-year-old man sustained multiple fractures and a stab wound after he was allegedly attacked by four men in Ahmedabad's Juhapura area, with investigators probing claims that the assault was carried out in retaliation for an earlier police complaint.

The Vejalpur police have registered an FIR under provisions relating to attempt to murder, grievous hurt, criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Victim alleges attackers confronted him over earlier complaint

The incident took place around 8 pm on July 8 near a lane adjoining Momin Parlour in Juhapura.

According to the complaint, Sahil alias Safil Salimbhai Mansuri (20), a Behrampura resident who operates a local media channel, was approached by four men who had arrived in an autorickshaw.

The accused have been identified as Rehan alias Firoz Attho Gafurbhai Sheikh, Sameer alias Peter Sarvarbhai Sheikh, Javed alias Jambu Syed and Zeeshan Zaheer alias Dabba.

Sahil alleged that Rehan and Sameer confronted him over a complaint previously lodged against them at the Danilimda police station before allegedly abusing and attacking him.

Knife attack and repeated blows alleged

The FIR states that Rehan and Sameer allegedly struck the victim repeatedly on both legs using wooden sticks, while Javed allegedly stabbed him near his left elbow with a knife. Sahil further alleged that Zeeshan also participated in the assault.

Following the attack, the accused allegedly warned him against mentioning their names again and threatened to kill him before fleeing the spot.

The injured man later contacted the 108 emergency ambulance service and was shifted to the trauma ward at Sola Civil Hospital.

Medical examination revealed a deep cut near his left elbow, along with fractures to his right knee and left ankle above the heel.

Loan dispute cited as background

In his statement to police, Sahil said he had borrowed ₹40,000 from Rehan around six months ago. He alleged that the dispute began after Rehan demanded additional money beyond what had originally been agreed.

The disagreement had earlier reached the Danilimda police station, where Sahil claimed he filed a complaint against Rehan. He now alleges that the July 8 assault was carried out as an act of revenge for that complaint.

Investigation underway

Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest all four accused. Investigators are also verifying eyewitness accounts and examining the earlier dispute to establish the sequence of events leading to the alleged attack.
