Father Sentenced to Jail Until Death for Assaulting 15-Year-Old Daughter: POCSO Court Rules 'No Room for Mercy'

In a stern judgment reflecting zero tolerance for horrific domestic crimes, a special POCSO court in Ahmedabad has sentenced a man to life imprisonment until his last breath for repeatedly sexually assaulting his 15-year-old minor daughter. Special Judge A.B. Bhatt convicted the accused father, observing that a parent who exploits his own child to satisfy physical desires deserves no legal leniency or humanitarian consideration.

The court also ordered a compensation of ₹7 lakh to be paid to the survivor under the Gujarat Victim Compensation Scheme 2019 to aid her rehabilitation.

A Betrayal of Parental Trust

The prosecution established that the convict, who worked as a painter in the Vatva area of Ahmedabad, subjected his daughter to horrific abuse after creating a climate of fear at home. According to case details, the man regularly assaulted his wife, eventually forcing her to abandon the household and leave behind three children, including the survivor, a younger sister, and a younger brother.

The ordeal escalated after the father discovered a mobile phone given to the 15-year-old girl by a local friend. Upon finding the hidden device, the father brutally beat the teenager with a length of wire.

Threats and Continuous Abuse

The pattern of sexual assault began the same night. While the children were sleeping on the terrace, the father dragged the minor girl downstairs and raped her. He threatened to murder her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Leveraging this fear, the convict continued to subject the minor to sexual harassment and assault over a prolonged period.

Unable to bear the continuous trauma, the survivor eventually approached the Vatva police station and lodged a formal complaint against her biological father. The Ahmedabad police subsequently arrested the accused and initiated a thorough investigation.

Hard-Hitting Evidence Secures Conviction

During the trial in the special POCSO court, Public Prosecutor K.G. Jain presented a watertight case against the accused. The prosecution successfully proved the charges by examining 12 witnesses and placing 22 crucial pieces of documentary evidence before the bench.

In the final verdict, Judge A.B. Bhatt delivered a searing indictment of the convict's actions, stating that instead of protecting his children, the father committed an utterly vile act by launching a penetrative sexual assault on his minor daughter. The court emphasised that in crimes of such a grave nature, there is absolutely no room for mercy.
