Ashleigh Gardner Accused of Cheating With Teammate by Estranged Wife

Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has come under public scrutiny following reports about the breakdown of her marriage and social media posts made by her estranged wife, Monica Wright.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Gardner and Wright’s relationship ended following an alleged affair involving another Australian cricketer. The report did not identify the individual involved.

Wright later responded to the report on Instagram, describing it as “too vague”, before sharing a photograph of Australian cricketer Georgia Voll with a caption alleging that she was the person involved. Neither Gardner nor Voll has publicly responded to the posts.

Relationship reportedly ended during World Cup period

The report stated that Gardner and Wright’s relationship began experiencing difficulties during the Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this year.

It claimed Wright travelled to India during the tournament, and after the Australian team returned home, Gardner told her that “something had changed in their relationship”. The couple later separated.

The report also stated that the pair had previously planned to start a family and that Gardner eventually moved out of their Sydney home, leaving behind their wedding rings.

It further claimed that the separation became a subject of discussion within the Australian dressing room, with some team members remaining in contact with Wright.

Gardner continues as key Australia player

Gardner remains one of Australia’s senior cricketers and was recently appointed co-vice-captain alongside Tahlia McGrath.

On the field, she has continued to enjoy success, playing an important role in Australia’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup triumph. Earlier in the season, Gardner was also named the ICC Women’s ODI Player of the Year.

The matter has attracted widespread discussion on social media, although no official statement has been issued by Gardner, Voll or Cricket Australia regarding the allegations.
