Banaskantha teacher on govt payroll despite moving to US claims she has NOC

Updated: Aug 12th, 2024

After reports claiming a government head teacher receiving salary even after moving to the US eight years ago surfaced, a video clarifying her stand by Bhavna Patel — the teacher in question has been doing the rounds on social media.

“Why should I pay the money? I do not believe this. When I registered for my passport, I took a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the district panchayat. The process of moving to the US also needed an NOC, which I procured. I have proper evidence. You can check all my documents whenever I return to India,” Patel states in the video.

The allegations suggest that despite living abroad, Patel, who holds a Green Card, returns to Gujarat once a year and still receives her salary.

In-charge school principal Parul Mehta claimed that she had reported the matter to the taluka education officer, district education officer, and the state education minister. But, no action was taken against the teacher.
