Updated: Aug 10th, 2024

Actions have been initiated against teachers in Gujarat who took up jobs but then went abroad to earn money, neglecting their responsibilities to students. The District Primary Education Officer of Kheda had begun the process of terminating these teachers, starting in February. Out of the eight teachers who went abroad, three have already been dismissed.

The services of three teachers were terminated on July 31.

Kheda District Primary Education Officer Paresh Vaghela said, “When I came to Kheda in February, I noticed that eight teachers from the primary schools of the district have gone abroad, one of them is abroad due to illness. There were so many complaints and an action was initiated in February.”

“We gave notices to these three teachers before the end of the year and we processed it in minutes. Eight more teachers were asked to go through a legal process to be removed from government jobs as they were in the process of going abroad,” he added.

According to Vaghela, the teachers are given three notices of dismissal over a year of non-attendance.

One of such teachers, Sonal Parmar, will complete a year of absenteeism in September, and if she does not respond to the notices by then, she will be dismissed from the job.
