Blunder in Banaskantha govt school: One more teacher absent on duty

Updated: Aug 10th, 2024

Another scandalous revelation was made in Banaskantha’s Uchpa Primary School where a teacher has been missing for the last two years without any notification to the school authority.

Near the boundaries of Vav taluka in Banaskantha, there is a primary school named Uchpa Primary School. The school has a total of 321 students registered. A total of 11 teachers in the school teach from grades 1 to 8.

Out of these 11 teachers, one teacher has been continuously absent for the past two years, resulting in the current staff being reduced to 10. Since Nov 10, 2022, Darshan Chaudhary, the class teacher for grades 1 to 5, has been continuously absent. No report regarding his absence has been made to the school principal.

Due to this serious negligence, a written report has been submitted to the centre school, the primary education officer of Vav, and the district education officer (DEO) within the specified time limit. However, even after the last two years, the absence of the teacher has not been investigated by the DEO or the taluka education officer.

The Education Minister Kuber Dindore has stated that an investigation will be conducted into the details of all teachers and staff residing abroad, and inspections will be carried out in all schools. Action will be taken against any teachers found to be absent from duty and residing abroad.

Just a day ago, it was revealed that a head teacher at Panchha Primary School in Banaskantha, who has moved to the US, has been allegedly receiving a salary from the state government for the past eight years.
