In 2023, Canada approved more than 2.5 million applications for temporary residency, which accounted for 6.2% of total residency applications. However, Miller indicated that under the new temporary residency policy, there will be a 5% reduction in residency approvals over the next three years.

In January, the IRCC processed 6,06,000 applications for student visas, of which 3,60,000 were accepted, reflecting a staggering decline of 35%. The Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had taken to his X, “We’re granting 35% fewer international student permits.
