‘NEET aspirants deserve answers,’ Rahul Gandhi invites PM Modi for debate

Updated: Jul 2nd, 2024

The leader of the Opposition in the lower house, Rahul Gandhi, in his first speech raised the issue of NEET, pointing out the discrepancies in the results and the paper leak scam.

Today, he put out an open invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inviting him to a debate in Parliament on NEET.

“Our aim is to engage constructively in the interest of 24 lakh NEET aspirants who deserve answers,” he wrote in his post along with the letter signed by him.

He also said that it would be ‘fitting’ if PM Modi were ‘to lead this debate’.

Gandhi, in his letter, pointed out that the Opposition’s request for the debate has been denied in both Houses of Parliament.

“The past seven years have seen over 70 paper leaks, affecting over 2 crore students,” he wrote, adding that the removal of the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) was a ‘move to cover up the systematic breakdown of our centralised testing system’.

He said that the students deserve answers and the debate would be ‘the first step towards rebuilding and restoring their faith’.
