‘Nobody Takes Her Seriously’: Opposition Hits Back At Kangana Ranaut Over Gen Z Protest Remarks

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s criticism of Gen Z protesters has triggered a sharp political backlash, with Opposition leaders questioning her political understanding and accusing her of dismissing the concerns of young people protesting over paper leaks.

Congress MPs Syed Naseer Hussain and Sukhdeo Bhagat, along with Samajwadi Party leader Udaiveer Singh, hit out at the actor-turned-politician on Tuesday after her remarks about protesters and their social media content sparked controversy.

‘No knowledge of students’ movement’: Congress MP

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain said Ranaut should not be taken seriously, accusing her of lacking an understanding of student movements and democratic processes.

“Nobody takes her seriously; she has no knowledge of students’ movement, democracy, or democratic way of life; she always says baseless things,” Hussain said.

Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat also criticised Ranaut, referring to some of her previous remarks to question her political understanding.

“She may be a good actress, but as an MP, she calls Subhas Chandra Bose the country’s first Prime Minister, and says the country became Independent only after 2014. There is no need to take her seriously,” Bhagat said.

He further claimed that even the BJP does not take her statements seriously.

SP leader questions Ranaut’s political understanding

Samajwadi Party leader Udaiveer Singh said Ranaut’s political understanding was limited and argued that being a popular film personality did not necessarily translate into political experience.

“To win elections, people sometimes field film stars as candidates, but that does not mean every film star also has political understanding,” Singh said.

He added that her comments should be viewed in the context of what he described as her limited political experience.

What Kangana Ranaut said about Gen Z protests

The political row began after Ranaut criticised Gen Z protesters demonstrating at Jantar Mantar and other locations over the paper leak issue.

Taking aim at videos emerging from the protests, Ranaut described the social media reels as “puke-inducing” and criticised the language used by some demonstrators.

“Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing,” Ranaut wrote.

She further described the language and conduct seen in the videos as “jarring” and “crass”.

Her remarks have since drawn criticism from Opposition leaders, who accused the BJP MP of making provocative comments rather than engaging with the concerns raised by young protesters over paper leaks.
