IIT Delhi MSc Student Dies After Fall From Sixth Floor, Police Launch Investigation

A 31-year-old MSc Physics student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi allegedly died after jumping from the sixth floor of a campus building, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Incident Reported From Lecture Hall Complex

According to police, the incident took place on Saturday inside IIT Delhi’s Lecture Hall Complex. Authorities received information about the case through a PCR call at around 8 am, following which a police team reached the campus.

The student was taken to the institute’s hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Initial findings indicate that he had entered the campus in the morning and later reached the sixth floor of the Lecture Hall Complex before the fall.

No Suicide Note Found

Investigators said no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Police have seized the student’s mobile phone and are examining its contents as part of the inquiry.

Crime scene and forensic teams inspected the location and collected evidence. Officials stated that preliminary examination did not reveal any injuries other than those caused by the fall.

Police Examining Circumstances

Police are trying to determine whether the student had spoken to anyone before the incident and whether any recent developments in his personal or academic life may have been connected to the case.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and legal procedures are underway. Authorities said the exact cause and circumstances of the death will become clearer after the investigation is completed.
