A series of alarming bomb threat emails reportedly triggered panic and heightened security across key defence establishments in Bengaluru, particularly those linked to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The threats specifically targeted the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), claiming that 13 cyanide gas-based Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been planted within the premises, as per reports.

The emails, reportedly written in Tamil, warned of a coordinated explosion scheduled for 1.10 pm, prompting authorities to immediately initiate evacuation procedures and intensive search operations. As the reports suggest, bomb disposal squads and local police conducted thorough inspections of the facilities, although no explosives have been found so far.

The situation reportedly took a political turn when the sender allegedly issued kidnapping threats against Inbanidhi Stalin, the son of Udayanidhi Stalin and grandson of M K Stalin. This added a layer of concern, bringing both security and political agencies into the investigation.

According to police sources, at least eight emails with identical, copy-pasted content were sent from the same address, suggesting a sustained and deliberate attempt to create panic. As per reports, the messages were signed by a group calling itself ‘Order of Angels (09A)’ and included references to alleged political and religious motives.

Authorities reportedly first detected the threats during routine email monitoring, following which cybersecurity teams and law enforcement agencies were deployed to trace the origin of the messages. Security has since been significantly tightened across all sensitive defence installations in and around Bengaluru as investigations continue.
