Woman behaving erratically on Ahmedabad road found to have mental health issues

A video purportedly showing a woman displaying erratic behaviour on a road in Ahmedabad has gone viral on social media, prompting the police to initiate an inquiry into the incident.

According to local residents, the woman was seen behaving erratically and rolling on the road near Bhavani Chowk in the Naroda area of the city. Eyewitnesses claimed that she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or some intoxicating substance, though this has not been officially confirmed by the police.

The video, which surfaced online on Wednesday, drew widespread attention and sparked discussions on social media regarding public safety and the increasing circulation of such incidents in the city.

Police officials said they have taken cognisance of the viral video and begun efforts to ascertain the identity of the woman as well as the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities added that further action would be taken after verification of the facts and completion of the preliminary inquiry.

A senior police official said that although it initially appeared that the woman was in an intoxicated state, further investigation revealed that she was suffering from mental health-related issues. She was later handed over to a women’s protection centre as she had neither a place to stay nor any relatives to care for her.
