A 46-year-old woman from Ahmedabad’s Vatva area has lodged a police complaint alleging that several relatives broke into her flat and vandalised household property worth ₹5 lakh following a family dispute late on Wednesday night.
As per the FIR at Vatva Police Station, Hafizabanu Javedali Saiyed, a resident of Arkam Flat near the canal in Vatva, alleged that the incident took place between 10.15 and 10.30 pm on April 29.
In her complaint, Hafizabanu stated that earlier in the evening she had gone near Green Park in Narol after noticing a crowd gathered around an altercation involving her sister-in-law, Aishakhan alias Aisha. She alleged that Aisha accused her of instigating the dispute and began quarrelling with her.
To avoid escalation, Hafizabanu said she contacted her brother, Sajidkhan alias Babu Kaniya Pathan, and later returned home.
However, when she reached her flat around 10 pm, she allegedly discovered that a group comprising her nephew Rehan, relative Naseem Khan Pathan, and Aisha’s nephews Nikhil and Nilesh alias Gada, all residents of the Narol area, had broken the lock of her house and entered the premises.
The accused allegedly vandalised the house and damaged household items including the refrigerator, cooler, cupboard, windows, doors and other belongings, causing an estimated loss of ₹5 lakh, police said.
The complainant further alleged that when she informed her brother about the incident, he too abused her and initiated a quarrel before leaving the scene prior to the arrival of police.
Police have registered a case against the accused on charges of trespass, mischief causing damage, unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation.
