Vadodara BJP drama prevails, Savli leaders opposes Dr Hemang Joshi’s candidature

Updated: Mar 26th, 2024

For a while now, Gujarat politics has been witnessing an internal stir among the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after candidates for all the seats were announced.

The internal melee within the BJP regarding the selection process of the Vadodara Lok Sabha candidate has not subsided. Despite replacing MP Ranjan Bhatt with a new and young face, Dr Hemang Joshi, the party’s internal factions are once again publicly expressing dissatisfaction, especially on social media, from the Savli taluka region.

Ketan Inamdar supporters

Some of the local assembly members from Savli, associated with the faction led by Ketan Inamdar, have strongly opposed the selection process of the Vadodara BJP. They have expressed their dissent through comments opposing Joshi’s selection.

Discussions are underway among senior leaders and other party members regarding Joshi’s nomination, who has been associated with the BJP for the past three years and has been selected to contest the elections.

Some notable individuals within the organisation have suggested considering various candidates for nomination. On the other hand, yesterday during the Holi festival, strong opposition arose against the nomination of Joshi in the WhatsApp group of Savli’s assembly members, with various comments being made against him.

Who is Dr Hemang Joshi?

At the age of only 33, Dr Hemang Joshi’s name came up for the Lok Sabha candidature. Currently, Joshi is the vice chairman of the municipal school board in Vadodara. As per reports, he is the former faculty general secretary at the faculty of social work at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
