Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt backs out of Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Updated: Mar 23rd, 2024

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Vadodara candidate, Ranjan Bhatt has backed out from contesting the Lok Sabha elections 2024, declaring it on social media.

Notably, there were internal rifts and dissatisfactions about Bhatt’s candidature in the BJP.

“I, Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt, am unwilling to contest Lok Sabha Election 2024 due to personal reasons,” read Bhatt’s post on the social media platform, X.

As soon as the name of Ranjan Bhatt was announced as a candidate for the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat, the BJP went through a shaky period of internal dissatisfaction.

Party’s Rashtriya Mahila Morcha vice-president Jyoti Pandya revolted over Bhatt's candidature. However, BJP state president CR Patil suspended Pandya from the BJP for six years with immediate effect.

Jyoti Pandya has been the mayor of Vadodara and was the vice-president of the party’s Rashtriya Mahila Morcha and central zone spokesperson of BJP. She was expelled from all party posts and primary membership by the BJP over her revolt.

Now, with Ranjan Bhatt’s refusal to contest in Lok Sabha Elections 2024, BJP will have to find another candidate here.
