Unjha witnesses 97% voters turnout in APMC elections

The most anticipated elections of Unjha APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) were held on Monday, and the polling booths saw a 97% voter turnout.
Voting for the 10 seats in the farmer’s section and 4 seats in the trader’s section began at 9 am, and there were long queues at the booths for both sections.
In the farmer’s section, 258 out of 261 voters cast their votes, and in the trader’s section, 782 out of 805 voters participated.
During the voting process, 20 officials performed their duties at the booths. To ensure no untoward incidents occur, a total of 7 PI (Police Inspectors), 7 PSI (Police Sub-Inspectors), and 71 police constables were deployed for tight security arrangements. An additional police force was also stationed at the Treasury Office.
The voting process concluded peacefully under police protection. The overall voter turnout for the 14 seats was 97%. The results will be announced after the vote counting on Tuesday.
