Two women arrested after viral altercation video with police in Ahmedabad’s Vasna

Two women were arrested by the Vasna police after a viral video showing an altercation with police personnel in Ahmedabad’s Vasna area triggered fresh controversy and legal action.

The accused, identified as Jignasa Dutt, 29, and Himanshi Dutt, 22, were arrested after police registered a case based on videos circulating on social media, officials said.

The controversy began after allegations surfaced that a police constable had slapped a minor in the Vasna area. During the incident, police personnel had reportedly stopped a group from entering a public garden late at night, leading to a heated argument with the two women.

Subsequently, videos of the confrontation emerged online, allegedly showing the women using abusive language against police personnel and threatening to have an officer suspended. Following the circulation of the footage, police initiated legal proceedings and arrested the two women.

Police officials said a year back, both accused were booked in a prohibition case registered at Paldi Police Station. During a raid conducted at their residence near Dharanidhar Crossroads in Paldi, officers allegedly recovered Indian-made foreign liquor without a permit.

According to the police, the raid led to the seizure of sealed liquor bottles and other related items from the residence. A case was registered under provisions of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

Investigators are now examining the viral videos and the sequence of events surrounding the confrontation with police personnel. Further investigation is under way.
