Two minors assaulted after dispute at wedding feast in Isanpur, Ahmedabad

A resident of Isanpur, Ahmedabad has been booked for allegedly assaulting two minors, following a dispute at a wedding reception in the locality late on Thursday night, police said.

According to Isanpur police, the accused has been identified as Irsad alias Kai Rizwan, a resident of Isanpur.

The complaint was lodged by Isara Ahmed Ansari, 40, a cloth trader and father of one of the victims.

Police said the incident occurred around 10 pm on April 23 in front of an anganwadi in the locality, where the complainant’s son and his cousin both 17 years old, had gone to attend a wedding reception.

While the two were returning after the function, the accused allegedly confronted them and questioned them over “looking at him”, before hurling abuses. When the teenagers objected, the accused allegedly assaulted both with fists and blows.

During the scuffle, the complainant’s son’s clothes were torn and ₹1,100 kept in his pocket reportedly went missing, police said.

The complainant stated that he rushed to the spot after receiving a call from his son and later took both injured boys to LG Hospital, where they were treated as outpatients. Medico-legal cases were registered in connection with their injuries.

Police have booked the accused under relevant provisions for assault, abuse and causing hurt. Further investigation is under way.
