Two held in separate IPL betting cases during late-night raids in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad Police registered two separate cases of online cricket betting during IPL matches and arrested two men from different parts of the city late on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, officials said.
In the first case, personnel from Chandkheda Police Station apprehended a 30-year-old trader inside the Narendra Modi Stadium during the IPL match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Police personnel deployed for security arrangements at the stadium spotted the accused allegedly using a betting application on his mobile phone while seated in Block K, Bay 3-Lower, Row AA, Seat No. 40 during the live match on Tuesday night.
The accused was identified as Tosifbhai Yunusbhai Pora, a resident of Sevaliya in Kheda district. Police alleged that he was operating an online betting application and placing bets on the IPL fixture.
Officials said mobile phone valued at approximately ₹25,000 was seized from his possession. During questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators that the betting ID had been arranged by one Kamalkumar Rameshbhai Patel of Panchmahal district for ₹42,000.
Police booked the accused under provisions of the Gujarat Gambling Act and launched further investigation to trace others linked to the betting network.
In a separate incident registered at Ramol Police Station, another man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday for allegedly placing online bets on ongoing IPL matches through a website-based betting platform.
Acting on the information, police conducted a raid around 1 am and detained the suspect, identified as Ronaksinh Jitendrasinh Bodana, 27, a resident of Ratanpura village in Vastral.
Investigators alleged that the accused was using a website called ‘ALLPANEL247.COM’ through which he was placing bets on live IPL cricket matches.
The mobile phone, valued around ₹20,000, was seized and the accused was booked under Section 12(a) of the Gambling Act.
Police said both cases are being investigated separately to ascertain possible links to larger online betting syndicates operating during the ongoing IPL season.
