Two brothers caught ferrying liquor worth ₹3.26 lakh in Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad Police’s Prohibition Control Branch (PCB) on Friday seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth ₹3.26 lakh from a car near Vaishnodevi Bridge in the Sola area and arrested two brothers allegedly involved in transporting the consignment from Rajasthan.
According to police, the accused were intercepted near the Nirma University end of Vaishnodevi Bridge on the road leading towards Chharodi Lake under the jurisdiction of Sola Police Station after officials received specific information about the movement of contraband liquor in a Kia car.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dilipkumar Mulchand Chauhan, 33, and Sanjaykumar Mulchand Chauhan, 31, both residents of Haridarshan Flat in Bapunagar.
Police said a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 407 sealed bottles of IMFL of various brands valued at ₹3,26 lakh.
In addition to the liquor, officers seized a Kia car worth ₹25 lakh, two mobile phones valued at ₹20,000, and ₹1,000 in cash, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹28.47 lakh.
Investigators said the liquor had allegedly been procured from different locations in Rajasthan’s Pali district and was being transported to Ahmedabad for illegal distribution.
Police have also named one absconding accused in the case, Premchand alias Umeshbhai Chauhan, a resident of Mundara village in Bali taluka of Rajasthan’s Pali district, who is suspected to have supplied the liquor consignment.
A prohibition case has been registered at Sola Police Station, and further investigation is under way.
