Two arrested for murder of man in Ahmedabad’s Vejalpur after dispute at PG accommodation

The Ahmedabad City Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a youth in the Vejalpur area following a dispute over keeping belongings in a cupboard at a paying guest accommodation, officials said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Hiren Solanki, who was allegedly stabbed to death by one of the accused, Mahavirsinh Jadav, during a violent altercation, police said.

Police confirmed that Mahavirsinh Jadav and another accused, Ranveersinh, have both been arrested in the case.

Investigators said the accused and the deceased had been involved in an argument a few days earlier over storing personal belongings inside a cupboard at the PG accommodation. The dispute allegedly resurfaced over opening the door and retrieving items, eventually escalating into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, Ranveersinh allegedly handed over a knife to Mahavirsinh, following which Mahavirsinh attacked Hiren Solanki with multiple stab wounds, police said.

Hiren, who sustained serious injuries in the assault, was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials added.

The Vejalpur police have registered a murder case and initiated further investigation into the incident.
