Truck driver killed after being hit by another truck on ring road in Ahmedabad

A truck driver was killed after being hit by another truck while inspecting his vehicle on the Gamdi-Aslali road along the Ahmedabad ring road late on Wednesday night, police said.

The deceased was identified as Mahendrabhai Shyamshankar Pandey. According to preliminary police investigations, Pandey had stopped his truck near Shiv Parking opposite Ramdev Dhaba on the Gamdi-Aslali stretch after suspecting a puncture in the vehicle.

Officials said that while Pandey had stepped out of the truck to inspect the tyre, another speeding truck rammed into him, causing fatal injuries.

The accident took place near Shiv Parking on the Gamdi-Aslali road, a busy transport corridor frequently used by heavy vehicles entering and exiting Ahmedabad.

Local residents and passers-by rushed to the spot following the collision and informed the police. Pandey was declared dead after sustaining severe injuries in the crash.

Police have initiated further investigation into the incident and are attempting to identify and trace the driver of the offending truck. A case of accidental death has been registered and further legal action is under way.
