Surat groom calls off wedding due to food shortage, cops intervene to marry couple at police station
In an all's-well-that-ends-well story in Surat, Gujarat, a groom who had cancelled his marriage due to food shortage at the wedding venue, finally tied the knot at a police station following a complaint from the bride's family.
As per reports, the wedding held on Sunday night was disrupted when food ran out, leaving around 100 guests from the groom’s side unfed. Outraged by the situation, the groom and his family walked out of the venue, causing a ruckus and leaving the bride in despair.
Refusing to accept the abrupt turn of events, the bride's family sought help from the Surat police. Police officers promptly arrived at the groom’s residence and brought him to the police station, where they counselled him and convinced him to proceed with the marriage.
The bride, however, made an unusual request to marry at the police station and asked the officers to officiate the wedding. In response, the police arranged garlands early Monday morning and conducted the wedding ceremony at the station.
