A shocking incident has emerged from Sankrail in West Bengal’s Howrah district, where a woman allegedly compelled her husband to sell his kidney for ₹10 lakh, claiming financial distress and the need to fund their daughter’s education and marriage. However, after the sale, she reportedly fled with the money and her lover.
According to reports, the man agreed to the kidney sale under pressure from his wife, hoping the funds would provide financial stability and ease their daughter’s future marriage arrangements. After searching for a buyer for nearly a year, he finally sold his kidney three months ago.
While the man was trying to improve his family’s situation, his wife had allegedly developed a relationship with a painter named Ravi Das from Barrackpore’s Subhash Colony through Facebook. After receiving the ₹10 lakh, she reportedly eloped with Das.
The devastated husband filed a police complaint after discovering the betrayal. On Friday, the man’s family, including his 10-year-old daughter, visited Das’ residence in Barrackpore, where the woman was allegedly living. Despite their efforts, the woman and her partner refused to open the door. When confronted, she reportedly stated, “Do what you must. I will be sending a divorce letter.”
