State revamps Gujarat police PSI recruitment rules
Here's everything you need to know about new rules of Gujarat police PSI recruitment
In a major change in Gujarat police requirement examinations for class-3 police sub-inspector (PSI), the government has decided to reduce the stages of the exams.
Previously, sub-inspector recruitment had physical tests, prelims, and mains. Now, the physical test leads directly to the mains.
Sub-inspector recruits received marks for the running test and had weight considerations in the physical test.
From now on, merely passing the run within the set time will matter without assigning any marks to the recruits. Other physical standards of the test have been kept aligned with those of Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) recruits.
Candidates now only need to pass the physical test, like constables, to qualify for the main exam.
No prelims, only mains?
Giving the aspirants a slight sigh of relief, instead of the previous 100-mark preliminary exam after the physical test, the main exam will now be conducted directly. Earlier, it comprised four 100-mark papers in Gujarati, English, General Knowledge, and Legal Matters, totalling 400 marks.
Now, the revised main exam is worth 300 marks.
There will be two papers, including Paper 1 of 200 marks (General Studies-MCQ), spanning 3 hours. Paper 2 of 100 marks (Gujarati and English Language Skill- Descriptive) spanning for 3 hours.
Recruitment board
On the other hand, a recruitment board has been constituted by the state government to speed up the filling of vacant posts in class 3 of the state police force.
The board will have an IPS officer of the rank of additional director general of police cadre as chairperson and four other members.
The new board will recruit a total of 12,472 personnel for various posts, including 1,000 armed constables (state reserve police force), 472 unarmed sub-inspectors, 1,013 male and 85 female police constable jail sipahi, 6600 unarmed constables, and 3,302 armed constables.
